Dwain H. Hughes Memorial Scholarship – Tarrant County College Nursing Program


Dwain H. Hughes, former Senior VP and CFO of RadioShack, played an instrumental role in establishing RadioShack’s Tech Prep Program (in conjunction with Tarrant County College), which provided scholarships for students who studied technology. Mr. Hughes also served as a lieutenant colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserves, where he personally witnessed the heroic efforts of nurses on the front line. Upon Hughes’ passing in 2001, the Dwain H. Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in his honor.


Up to $500 per semester per recipient. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, and books.

Geographic limitations:

Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, TX


  • Minimum cumulative TCC GPA of 3.0 in courses applied towards the A.A.S. degree in Nursing
  • Must meet federal guidelines for financial need

Renewal criteria include maintaining a GPA of 3.0 in the nursing curriculum, completing a minimum of eight credit hours each semester and maintaining appropriate conduct.
