Ione Buckner McAlister Scholarship – Southwest High School

Background:

The Ione Buckner McAlister Scholarship was established in 2000 from the estate of Mrs. McAlister, a TCU graduate and former science teacher. This scholarship is awarded to seniors graduating from Southwest High School and is renewable for up to three years at the discretion of the scholarship committee.

Amount:

The number and amount of scholarships are determined annually by the organization.

Funds may be used for:
Tuition, fees and books.

Geographic limitations:
Southwest High School – Fort Worth, TX

Eligibility:

  • Graduating senior in good standing
  • Plans to attend an accredited college or university

Deadline:
Applications may be turned in to Alice Burns-Holcomb in the Go Center by March 31, 2017.

Renewals:
Renewable for up to three years at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Students wishing to renew must send The Community Foundation a letter of request, along with a current certified transcript, for committee review within two weeks of the close of the spring semester. Once the scholarship has been renewed, the student must send The Community Foundation an updated award acceptance form.

How to apply:
The application is available in the Southwest High School Go Center. After completing the application, turn it in to Alice Burns-Holcomb in the Go Center.
