Improving Our Community Through Giving
As a community foundation, our mission is to sustain all sectors of our community. Our vision is to provide enduring support for nonprofits and create a long-lasting impact on the North Texas community. The Community Foundation has adopted a long-term strategy of attracting unrestricted and broad field-of-interest endowments. These unrestricted endowments typically come from the estate plans of those who understand that future needs of a community cannot be adequately met by highly restricted endowments. An important part of this strategy is educating people to think about giving in a larger context, beyond providing funds for specific needs. As a result, we hope to develop a pool of endowments for awarding more grants to benefit nonprofits and the entire North Texas area.
Non-profit organizations in Tarrant County are doing great things in many areas, and The North Texas Community Foundation is proud to support their important work. Since our founding in 1981, we’ve awarded more than $160 million to nonprofits.
Grants are made in the following focus areas:
Animal Services & Welfare
Arts, Culture, & Humanities
Disaster & Emergency Relief
Environment & Agriculture
Health & Medical Research
Human Services & Housing
Donor Advised Grant Area Focus Recommendation
We offer two primary funding opportunities for nonprofits:
Annual Toolbox Grants. These grants, which run on a three-year cycle, give nonprofits the resources they need to improve their strength and stability. The current focus for ToolBox Grants is on the early learning sector.
Funds dedicated to specific fields of interest. We help donors translate their passion and values into meaningful giving.
