15 Years in the Business of Good

Headquartered in Fort Worth, Higginbotham has grown into one of the nation’s largest independent insurance firms, serving businesses and individuals across the country. Community involvement has long been part of its culture. In 2010, they established the Higginbotham Community Fund at North Texas Community Foundation to give their team a direct role in their corporate giving program. Since then, Higginbotham employees have donated $17.5 million to the fund and granted more than $14 million to nonprofits serving the communities where they live and work.

As an employee-driven donor-advised fund, Higginbotham encourages its staff to participate in the company’s grantmaking. After making a gift to the fund, employees can then recommend grants to qualified nonprofits. Since its inception, Higginbotham employees have supported 1,692 organizations nationwide. In 2025, employees awarded 647 grants, marking their most charitable year to date. Grants have gone to a range of focus areas, including disaster relief, youth development, education, and healthcare and research.

“What started as a way to give our employees a voice in our giving has become one of the most meaningful parts of our culture. Our partnership with North Texas Community Foundation makes that ownership possible, and that’s what turns giving into something personal.” – Priscilla Miller, Director of Community Relations & Special Events at Higginbotham

For Higginbotham employees, giving does not stop with grantmaking. They also volunteer alongside nonprofit partners, offering their time and skills where it matters most. That hands-on involvement strengthens local organizations and builds lasting connections in the communities they serve.

The Higginbotham Community Fund demonstrates how an employee-led approach to giving can expand a company’s philanthropic reach and create meaningful impact.
