The North Texas Community Foundation has committed funding to support a new full-time nonprofit reporter at the Fort Worth Report, a role designed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public understanding of the region’s nonprofit and social impact sector. As one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation, Tarrant County is home to thousands of charitable organizations investing billions of dollars each year in housing, education, health, arts, and economic mobility. Yet despite their critical work, the sector has lacked consistent, in-depth journalism to help residents understand how resources are used and how effectively programs serve the community.
This new position will fill that gap. The nonprofit reporter will focus on covering the people, organizations, and systems that shape Tarrant County’s civic and philanthropic landscape. Through in-depth reporting, trend analysis, and community engagement, the reporter will highlight innovative approaches, examine challenges, and provide residents with clear, fact-based information about how nonprofits and foundations support local needs.
Coverage will extend across the county—from Fort Worth to Arlington and from Alliance to Benbrook —and will be rooted in extensive listening sessions, data analysis, and relationship-building with nonprofit leaders, service providers, funders, and residents. The reporter will break news, produce explanatory stories, and pursue accountability reporting that elevates transparency and helps identify opportunities for stronger collaboration and impact.
“Fort Worth Report provides local residents with essential information about the issues that matter most, helping all of us make better-informed decisions in our daily lives,” said Rose Bradshaw, president & CEO of North Texas Community Foundation. “By funding a reporter to cover the nonprofit sector, The Community Foundation aims to strengthen the public’s awareness of the challenges facing our nonprofit leaders and lift up opportunities for our community to support their success.”
Together, North Texas Community Foundation and the Fort Worth Report are investing in trusted, independent journalism that strengthens civic health and ensures residents have the information they need to engage in and support their community.
