Strengthening Pathways For Housing Stability In Arlington

Stable housing is essential to a family’s financial security and well‑being. In Arlington, many families are struggling to keep up with rising housing costs while trying to plan for a more stable future. The Hispanic Real Estate Brokers Association (HREBA) works alongside families, offering trusted housing counseling that helps them make informed decisions and move toward long‑term stability and homeownership.

Operating support from a BEACON grant from North Texas Community Foundation allowed HREBA to strengthen its housing counseling program at a critical time as housing pressures increased. Rather than focusing on a single service, the grant improved the organization’s overall capacity, strengthening staffing, systems, outreach efforts, and service delivery.

This support increased access to counseling and resources, and allowed HREBA to serve low‑ and moderate‑income households before short-term challenges turned into long‑term setbacks. HREBA provided personalized counseling to 108 families, and six achieved the life-changing milestone of purchasing a home. Now, more families are receiving clearer guidance, improving their financial readiness and planning more confidently for the future.

“Operating support may not always be the most visible investment, but it is often the most transformative,” said Leticia Gallegos, Executive Director of Hispanic Real Estate Brokers Association. “It allows community-based organizations like ours to build the systems needed to meet urgent needs while creating long-term pathways to financial and housing security.”

The grant also opened the door to new partnerships. Through a collaboration with Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, HREBA counselors gained additional training that allows them to provide free credit repair support and help families better understand and monitor their credit. This expanded support further strengthens families’ ability to make confident financial decisions.

“We are deeply grateful to North Texas Community Foundation for investing in HREBA’s mission. This support has allowed us to strengthen our capacity, improve the quality of our housing counseling services, and reach more families with the trusted guidance they need to pursue financial stability and homeownership,” continued Gallegos. “Their partnership is helping us create lasting impact in the low- and moderate-income communities of Arlington.”
