Alyson Adams, a committed Trinity High School teacher fully dedicated to her students, faculty, and community, lost her brave battle with breast cancer in 1997. The Alyson Adams Scholarship Fund was established to honor her memory.

A caring wife, mother and friend, Mary Lillian Blackstock was a prominent businesswoman who served on the board of Child Protective Services and had a passion for people and a purpose-driven life. Ronald Lee Blackstock was a successful attorney and graduate of the University of Texas. In 2015, this fund was established in the couple’s memory to support graduating seniors from Graham High School, Graham, Texas.

Dwain H. Hughes, former Senior VP and CFO of RadioShack, played an instrumental role in establishing RadioShack’s Tech Prep Program, in conjunction with Tarrant County College, which provided scholarships for students who studied technology. As a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, he witnessed the heroic efforts of nurses on the front line and wished to support students working toward a career in nursing. Upon Hughes’ passing in 2001, the Dwain H. Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in his honor.

The Fannye M. Jones Scholarship was established within the Dwain H. Hughes scholarship fund in honor of Fannye M. Jones who provided the community of Greeneville, Tennessee, with a rich legacy and a commitment to education and service to others.

In 2004, The Greenville High School Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund was established by the 1957 graduating class and is awarded to one deserving, graduating senior from Greenville High School, Greenville, Texas, pursuing higher education.

The H.O.P.E. Farm Scholarship is a needs-based college tuition grant awarded to young men who have completed the H.O.P.E. Farm program, have demonstrated commitment to attending college, and possess strong character and a dedicated work ethic. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years at the discretion of the H.O.P.E. Farm scholarship committee.

Hugh K. Roe was a mathematics teacher and vice principal in Fort Worth, Texas. He and wife Jeanne raised seven children who attended Haltom High School and completed a college or graduate program. In 2002, this scholarship was established to honor their devotion to education by providing assistance to a deserving Haltom High School, Haltom City, Texas, student working to obtain a degree in education.

Members of the Rothrock family created the Rothrock Family Scholarship Fund in 2005 to support graduating seniors from Amon G. Carter – Riverside High School, Fort Worth, Texas, pursuing higher education.

The Ione Buckner McAlister Scholarship was established in 2000 from the estate of Mrs. McAlister, a science teacher and TCU graduate. This scholarship is awarded to seniors graduating from Paschal High School, Fort Worth, Texas, and is renewable for up to three years at the discretion of the scholarship committee.

The Ione Buckner McAlister Scholarship was established in 2000 from the estate of Mrs. McAlister, a science teacher and TCU graduate. This scholarship is awarded to seniors graduating from Southwest High School, Fort Worth, Texas, and is renewable for up to three years at the discretion of the scholarship committee.

The purpose of this scholarship is to award a grant to one FWISD math teacher and one FWISD science teacher to develop either a math or science project or a series of lessons to improve math or science instruction in his/her classroom and, ultimately, within the Fort Worth ISD. A selection committee comprised of the directors and members of the Math/Science Content Council will review all proposals and make selections based on the stated criteria below. A grant will be awarded for material costs associated with the proposed project or lessons.
The application is available through the FWISD school principals’ offices or in the FWISD office. After completing the proposal, turn it into Dr. Herman Jackson Jr. between 8:00am and 5:00pm at the following location:

The James Earle Johnson scholarship was established by Robert M. Johnson to pay a lasting tribute to his father, James Earle, a longtime member of the Trimble Technical High School faculty. The scholarship will provide assistance to seniors graduating from Trimble Tech High School, Fort Worth, Texas, pursuing an education in architecture. The Johnson scholarship is renewable for up to four years at the discretion of the scholarship committee.

An educator for 27 years, Dorothy Mize founded the girls drill team, the Haltom High School Highsteppers, in 1966; it was under her direction for 19 years. Former student, Susan Roe, established the scholarship fund with the support of other almuni to honor Ms. Mize’s legacy as a remarkable teacher and drill team director.

In 2001, the friends and family of Susan Patton established the Susan Lewis Patton Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance to an Arlington Heights High School, Fort Worth, Texas graduating senior planning to continue their education who has demonstrated the ability to make the most of their potential.

Yes. You are encouraged to apply for all scholarships for which you meet eligibility requirements.

Yes. It is possible, and acceptable, for you to receive multiple awards.
Once a deadline has passed and all applications are processed, a committee will review the applications and make award recommendations. In some cases, you may be called for a personal interview. Award recommendations are based on scholarship criteria, the availability of funds and the competitiveness of the applicant pool. The review process may take several weeks, and you will be notified of the committee’s decision.
If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be notified with details of your award and the process for payment.
The award letter will give you specific instructions for claiming your award. In most cases, you will have an award acceptance form that must be signed and returned to the North Texas Community Foundation by a specified date.
Scholarship awards are based on scholarship criteria, the availability of funds and the competitiveness of the applicant pool. These factors change with every funding cycle, and some years are more competitive than others. Please note that meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee funding, and the reason for not receiving an award may be as simple as lack of funding.

Yes, we absolutely want you to send a thank you note that we can share with the founder of the fund. This is the best way for the donor to understand how important the scholarship is to the recipients. Unless otherwise instructed, please send your note(s) to North Texas Community Foundation, and we will send them to the donor(s).
No, you can apply for scholarships while making final decisions about your education. However, to receive the scholarship award, you must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
No, you do not need a Free Application for Federal Student Aid unless specifically requested in the scholarship application. However, some scholarships are awarded based on financial need, so it is helpful to have a FAFSA on file. You may increase your eligibility if that information is available to scholarship committees.
