For many high schoolers, professional experience begins after graduation. But at Cristo Rey Fort Worth College Prep, it’s part of the school day. Cristo Rey is a Catholic college preparatory school that blends rigorous academics with real-world job training. Through its Corporate Work Study Program, Cristo Rey places students in internships with local businesses and organizations, where they spend one day each week gaining hands-on experience and building essential workplace skills.
This year, NTCF had partnered with Cristo Rey to welcome freshman intern Jackie Medina to the team. Over the school year, Jackie supported multiple departments and contributed to essential office work such as filing and organizing, social media management, internal projects, and much more. Her curiosity, work ethic, and positive spirit have made a lasting impression on the Foundation.
At the end of the program, Cristo Rey students give a presentation highlighting their experience. Jackie shared that communication was the most impactful skill she developed and one she plans to carry into her future career as a teacher. While Jackie interned with NTCF, she also expressed interest in attending Texas Christian University (TCU) after graduation. To celebrate her contributions throughout the year, NTCF arranged a private tour of TCU, where Jackie connected with faculty and current Cristo Rey interns on campus.
“Being at this job really helped me grow not only as a person but as a worker. It was an enlightening experience.” — Jackie
NTCF is proud to support Cristo Rey’s mission and are inspired by students like Jackie, who are helping to shape a bright future for Fort Worth.
