Destructive fires in several communities across Texas have burned thousands of acres and destroyed hundreds of homes and other buildings. Some of those fires are not fully contained and until the region gets soaking rains, it will continue to be an issue into the summer months.
For donors wishing to support relief efforts, our friends at the Community Foundation of Abilene have established three funds to collect donations to support people, businesses, and fire departments affected by ongoing fires across the Big Country. More information can be found here.
> The Eastland County Fire Relief Fund will go to fire departments and non-profits helping residents and businesses affected by the fires in Eastland County.
> The Coleman County Disaster Relief Fund will provide grants to fire departments and nonprofits serving those affected by fires in Coleman County.
> The Big Country Fire Relief Fund will send donations to fire departments and non-profits in other surrounding areas that are affected by the wildfires.
Donors who have a fund at NTCF can make a grant recommendation through DonorCentral to Abilene Community Foundation. In the grant purpose, please note the specific fund you wish to grant to or “Fire Relief Funds”.
