The Gift Of Time – Holiday Volunteer Opportunities

Help spread gratitude and joy this holiday season by giving the gift of time. Many organizations see an increased demand during the holidays and depend on volunteers to provide services. Whether you’re serving a hot meal, helping at an animal rescue, supporting the arts, or contributing to a women’s health event, your efforts can make a meaningful difference. Listed below are local nonprofits currently seeking volunteers.  

ACH Child and Family Services 

ACH Child and Family Services has served families through a continuum of 18 residential and community-based services that foster safety and hope. Volunteers needed for youth mentorship, Supper Club, the In-Kind Drive as well as the holiday’s Cookie Cutter’s Club. Arlington Museum of Art 

The Arlington Museum of Art is a thriving visual arts museum, dedicated to art education, community engagement, and impactful art experiences, especially for children. Volunteering offers the opportunity to meet and work with fellow art lovers and get a close-up view of our exhibitions. BarbaraCares 

BarbaraCares provides support services to breast cancer patients and caregivers in Texas through free mammogram screenings and addressing late-stage breast cancer incidents and mortality rates. Volunteer to help in several ways at the December Caring Conversation in Fort Worth. Visit www.barbaracaresforyou.org/volunteer.html to learn more.  

Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth 

RMHFW programs reduce stress and financial burden for families by providing lodging and meals with space for 57 families at a time. Volunteer through “Meals from the Heart” by providing meals or as a house volunteer by offering office assistance, staffing special events, cleaning and stocking the kitchen or assisting with mailings. Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County 

For 135 years, UGM-TC has tackled poverty at its core, providing transitional housing, clinical counseling, spiritual development, and children’s enrichment to transform lives. Volunteers needed for tutoring, kitchen and dining service, and sorting and organizing the warehouse where residents can “shop” for items they need. For more information, visit https://www.ugm-tc.org/volunteer/

Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter 

The Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter houses and cares for over 6,500 animals each year.  Unlike most shelters with dogs and cats, they also house cows, pigs, chickens, and horses. They are currently recruiting for two volunteer positions on the animal care team and the customer care team. Cuisine for Healing 

Cuisine for Healing is committed to promoting the healing power of food by cooking nutritious organic meals that are readily available to people combating life threatening diseases, and offering educational resources to empower individuals to make food choices that benefit their well-being and long-term health.  They currently serve an average of 45 clients per week – which averages 600 meals a week!  They are seeking volunteers for delivery drivers on Thursday mornings as well as kitchen assistants.  If you would like to learn more, please contact Cuisine for Healing at lynngreen@cuisineforhealing.org or call 817.921.2377.
