Graduates Nick Itayem, Seth Beneze, and Riyhanna Point recognized for academic merit and civic leadership
Three Glen Rose High School graduates are the 2025 recipients of the John and Frances Wasilchak Scholarship. The Wasilchak Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 at North Texas Community Foundation and has awarded more than $900,000 to 52 Glen Rose High School graduates.
Seth Beneze, Nick Itayem, and Riyhanna Point were each awarded $6,000 to be used during their freshmen year of college. The scholarship award is renewable each year of their college careers as long as they remain full-time students and maintain a set GPA.
Seth Beneze, the class valedictorian, will attend the University of Texas at Arlington this fall, where he plans to major in computer science. Beneze has distinguished himself both in and out of the classroom, earning recognition in the All-Region Band and Choir and securing first place in Computer Science at the district level. Outside of school, he serves as a youth leader at his church, leading services on Wednesday and Sunday evenings.
Another accomplished graduate, Nick Itayem will attend Texas A&M University to study political science, with plans to pursue law school. A participant in Texas Boys State and the Action Lone Star Leadership program, Itayem has also been active in UIL speech and debate, where he was honored as Best Public Speaker.
Riyhanna Point is set to attend Tarleton State University, where she will major in criminal justice with the goal of becoming an FBI agent. At Glen Rose High School, Point was involved in theater and track, competing in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. She was an active member of the GRHS Theater Society and the International Thespian Society. She served as a sound technician for more than a dozen GRHS productions, as well as the UIL one-act play.
