Graduates Itzel Corrujedo, Avery Power, and Brady Stephenson recognized for academic merit and civic leadership
Three Glen Rose High School graduates are the 2026 recipients of the John and Frances Wasilchak Scholarship. The Wasilchak Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 at North Texas Community Foundation and has awarded more than $975,000 to 53 Glen Rose High School graduates.
Itzel Corrujedo, Avery Power, and Brady Stephenson were each awarded $6,000 to be used during their freshmen year of college. The scholarship award is renewable each year of their college careers as long as they remain full-time students and maintain a set GPA.
Itzel Corrujedo will attend Angelo State University this fall, where she plans to major in accounting with the goal of becoming a certified public accountant. Corrujedo hopes to use her skills in bookkeeping, law, and budgeting to help families better understand taxes and manage their finances. A member of the National Honor Society, she has earned numerous academic and artistic honors, including the Top Student Award, Honors in Anatomy and Physiology, a Silver Medal in Photography, and recognition through the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
Another accomplished graduate, Avery Power, will attend Tarleton State University, where she plans to study speech-language pathology. Power aspires to help individuals overcome speech and language barriers through her work in communication disorders and sciences. During her time at Glen Rose High School, she served as Tiger Pride Color Guard Captain during the 2024–2026 seasons and was a member of the National Honor Society. Power also founded the school’s Psychology Club, earned the National College Board Small and Rural Town Award, competed in UIL Literary Criticism Competitor, and volunteered with Stonewater Church’s kids’ ministry.
Joining Corrujedo at Angelo State University is Brady Stephenson, who plans to pursue a degree in aviation. Stephenson credits his involvement in FFA and the mentorship of Mr. Wigington for encouraging him to join FFA, which has led to his success in science and agriculture, and earning several national awards in Land and Range Judging and Homesite Evaluation. He hopes to combine his passion for aviation and science to make a positive impact on the agriculture industry. During his time at Glen Rose High School, Stephenson was a UIL State Qualifier in Cross‑Examination Debate and served in leadership roles as Vice President of the National Honor Society during the 2025–2026 school year. He was also actively involved in Student Council, serving as President during the 2024–2025 school year and Vice President during the 2025–2026 school year.
