Woodland Garden Brings Tranquility to Clark Gardens

Thanks to support from the Conservation and Environment Fund at North Texas Community Foundation, a beloved corner of Clark Gardens Botanical Park in Mineral Wells has been transformed into a flourishing retreat for people and pollinators alike.

In 2024, Clark Gardens received a grant to create the Woodland Garden in the park’s well-loved Shady Alley. The project brought new life to the space through soil enhancements, improved lighting, and an array of shade-loving plants designed to attract pollinators. The result is a serene garden that welcomes visitors to experience the restorative power of nature.

“The Woodland Garden enhances the natural beauty of Shady Alley and offers guests a serene place to experience the restorative power of nature,” said Carol Clark Montgomery, Director of Clark Gardens. “We are deeply grateful to the North Texas Community Foundation for supporting our vision and helping us create a sustainable, educational, and inspiring garden for all to enjoy.”

The Woodland Garden reflects Clark Gardens’ mission to demonstrate sustainable horticulture and environmental stewardship in North Texas. With its lush design, it offers families, garden enthusiasts, and community members a tranquil space to slow down, learn, and connect with nature, all while highlighting the importance of sustainable gardening practices.

The Conservation and Environment Fund is supported by local donors who care deeply about protecting the region’s natural treasures. By pooling their resources, these donors ensure that organizations like Clark Gardens can preserve green spaces, expand environmental education, and inspire future generations.
