WORTH is a group of young professionals who ignite meaningful change by giving together. With professional guidance, members learn about community needs, engage with peers, and collectively support nonprofit organizations serving our region.

Each year, members get the unique opportunity to participate in every step of the grantmaking process to address a particular community need– from reviewing proposals to interviewing nonprofits to allocating funding. WORTH members have awarded over $130,000 to nonprofits since launching in 2015.

“The biggest takeaway from WORTH is the great connections I have with like-minded people that I wouldn’t normally encounter and the shared experiences we’ve had over philanthropy,” said Allie Sanders, 2023 WORTH vice chair.

This year, the group selected affordable housing as their focus area based on the media around the eviction moratorium and the group’s own experiences with the price of rent and housing.

WORTH members collectively awarded $10,000 to Tarrant County Samaritan Housing, Inc. The grant will fund repairs to the irrigation system outside of the Single Room Occupancy housing facility that was damaged during the winter freeze. The pending repairs will allow Samaritan House to reopen the unit and bring in new residents that are in need of housing.

WORTH members will reconvene this summer for a site visit to Tarrant County Samaritan Housing, Inc. to see their grant dollars in action.
