As a man of science, long-time physician Dr. William Ellermeyer knows first-hand the life-saving benefits of timely, affordable vaccinations. In July, Dr. Ellermeyer expressed interest in funding vaccinations for human papillomavirus to protect against cancers caused by HPV infection.
Within a matter of weeks, North Texas Community Foundation staff matched the Ellermeyer family with the Tarrant County Immunization Collaboration. Through their donor advised fund, the Ellermeyers provided a grant to underwrite the costs of administering the vaccine at back-to-school events during the month of August.
As a result, approximately 1,500 Tarrant County youth received the first round of HPV vaccines. The Ellermeyer’s grant will provide the next two rounds needed to complete the full three-course vaccine.
“North Texas Community Foundation encouraged me to find something I was passionate about. Once I found it, their staff was able to make my vision a reality,” — Dr. Ellermeyer
